Dr. Jim Dudl is an accomplished endocrinologist with extensive clinical and research experience in diabetes control, which led him to become Co-Director of the Diabetes program in the entire KP Southern California region.  More recently, he is leading the clinical research for diabetes at the Care Management Institute as part of the Kaiser Permanente national diabetes program. Dr. Dudl has been actively involved in research regarding glucose control and the prevention of cardiovascular disease for the past 20 years.  He collaborated on various quality improvement projects and research studies with colleagues across disciplines and institutions over these years. He served as the site principal investigator of the NIH-sponsored Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes (ACCORD) study, and currently as the site principal investigator of the Outcome Reduction with Initial Glargine Intervention (ORIGIN) study. Their center was very successful in recruiting participants for both studies. He brings over 35 years of clinical experience in dealing with patient issues that may be encountered in the study and I am confident that I can bring such success to the proposed study.  Dr. Dudl received numerous national awards and honors in the areas of diabetes, cholesterol, National Hypertension, and cardiovascular prevention programs.
